Netflix have released two more images from Irish Wish, the new rom com starring Lindsay Lohan which was filmed in Ireland.

The film, which debuts on the streamer on 15 March, was filmed on location in Kilruddery House and Lough Tay in Wicklow, Westport Town, and the Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare.

Lohan plays shy book editor Maddie Kelly who is forced to put her feelings aside when the love of her life gets engaged to her best friend. The film also features an appearance from her younger brother, Dakota.

The synopsis for the film reads, "Maddie agrees to be a bridesmaid at their wedding in Ireland but just before the big day, she makes a spontaneous wish for true love, only to wake up as the bride-to-be. But as her dream gets closer to coming true, she realises that her real soulmate is someone else entirely."

Speaking about the film, Lohan says, "Maddie's been ghost writing for the writer she works for and she’s hopelessly in love with him, and she’s expecting him to love her back,"

But when reciprocation proves elusive, she takes matters into her own hands - only to find that romantic fantasies don’t always hold up to the harsh light of reality.

"It’s a nice story of luck and love and confidence," Lohan says about Irish Wish, the first of her two-picture creative partnership with Netflix.

Lohan is no stranger to the romantic comedy genre but she says her latest project was a new challenge. "Maddie’s [one of the only] characters that I’ve played [who’s] a woman on her own making her way in the world," she says.

"We shaped her in a way that she was a bit more insecure in the beginning, and then she grows throughout the movie, and by the end, she really comes into her own.

"It’s important to put yourself first and know your worth," she adds. "If you know you deserve better, go for it and get it."

Irish Wish also stars Ed Speleers (You, Downton Abbey), Alexander Vlahos (Outlander, Sanditon, Versailles), Jane Seymour (The Kominsky Method, Wedding Crashers), Elizabeth Tan (Emily in Paris, The Singapore Grip), and Ayesha Curry (About Last Night, A Black Lady Sketch Show).

Lohan described shooting Irish Wish as convivial and friendly, adding that working with her brother Dakota made the experience all the more enjoyable.

"Whenever I’m with family, I’m really bad at not cracking up for some reason," she says. "I make funny faces when I’m off camera just to mess with them."

Lohan, whose family can trace their roots back to Italy and Ireland, jumped at the chance to explore this side of her heritage. "Ireland’s so beautiful," she says. "I’d never been, but my grandfather’s from there. We stayed in this little town called Dalkey. The people are so nice, and the Guinness pies were amazing."

Irish Wish will be streaming on Netflix from 15 March.
