Tell us three things about yourself . . .

Obsessive, restless, passionate.

How would you describe your music?

Mostly electronic, but my recent album, The Strand Cinema, was built using acoustic instruments like cello, violin, and guitars. Later in the process, I introduced electronics. My background for years has been techno and electro, although I always like to experiment with all types of recording and music.

Who are your musical inspirations?

People who teach me honesty. But if you want me to name musicians or people that I know I will go to my grave still loving, then I could mention Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, Arvo Pärt and Moritz von Oswald.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

I think it was the Stone Roses in the Maysfield Leisure Centre Belfast around ’91.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Can’t remember, I do remember getting a 7" off a Rice Crispies cereal box, it had Herbie Hancock’s Rockit on one side and Wham!’s Club Tropicana on the other side.

What’s your favourite song right now?

No idea, I hate the thought of having a favourite song, I have hundreds or thousands of favourite songs. You’d have to be a really dull person to have a favourite song.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Not sure, I did want to play Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division at my wedding, sadly I was talked out of it.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That would be my idea of HELL, the thought of hearing one record for the rest of my life would be complete torture. Although in an attempt to answer your question, if we are talking desert island discs scenario, and I could only pick one record it would be The KLF's Chill Out album.

Where can people find your music/more information?

I have my own record label that is distributed to most digital download sites. I also have a Bandcamp page that I like people to use because I get most of the money for it directly.
