A new clip from the upcoming third series of Netflix period drama Bridgerton has been released, heavily featuring Galway actress Nicola Coughlan.
Coughlan stars in the hit period drama show as Penelope Featherington, who has been besotted with her friend Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton, for the past two seasons.
The blurb for the new series says that Coughlan's character "has given up on her long-held crush... after hearing his disparaging words about her last season."
However, "she has decided it's time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters."
Meanwhile Colin has returned from his summer travels and disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder.
Offering to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband, he soon must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly.
Part one of the new series will be available to stream on Netflix from 16 May, with part two arriving on the platform on 13 June.
