Pick of the Day

Marú inár Measc, 9.30pm, TG4

This brand-new three-part true crime documentary series shines a light on the effect that fatal crimes have on society, local communities and on the victim's families as they are left without answers.

Tonight's opening episode recalls the tragic murder of 24-year-old mother of two Jennifer Poole who was brutally murdered by her ex-boyfriend Gavin Murphy in her apartment in Finglas, Dublin in 2021.

Unknown to Jennifer, Gavin Murphy had thirteen previous convictions when they met, which included a history of violence towards women.

Jennifer worked with the elderly in a local care home and was an active member of her local GAA club Erin’s Isle, playing camogie alongside her sister Clare.

The community of Finglas was shocked by Jennifer’s murder and raised money through a Go Fund Me page to help with her funeral costs.

And although it was during Covid 19 restrictions, hundreds lined the streets as her funeral passed through the village.

This programme looks at the ongoing campaign by Jennifer Poole’s family to highlight domestic abuse in relationships and their lobbying for a new act 'Jennie’s Law’, a register of previous domestic abusers.
