The Miners’ Strike 1984: The Battle for Britain, 9.00pm, Channel 4
It was one of the bitterest industrial disputes in 20th Century Britain and became a central moment in the era when Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister.
The year-long dispute in the coal mining industry, which was an attempt by unions to prevent the closure of collieries advocated by the Conservative government of the day.
The strike proved bitterly divisive, nowhere more so than in one Derbyshire pit village, Shirebrook, that came to be split down the middle in an increasingly violent struggle between striking and working miners.
This episode tells the story of how Shirebrook descended into violence and division - a microcosm of what was happening in communities across the country.
The World's Most Luxurious Holidays, 8.00pm, RTÉ2
This, presumably aspirational, series explores some of the most amazing hotels, villas and island escapes on the planet.
They’re the kind of places that won’t be housing refugees or asylum seekers any time soon.
This opening episode explores New York's Mark Hotel and its eye-wateringly expensive penthouse suite. It’s where Meghan Markle held her baby shower.
Next up in the Algarve, Portugal, for the Vila Azzurine, where billionaires could spend around a million a week for a retreat to go to when they are looking for some sun and sea.
It’s quite obscene, really.
