The BBC has announced that it will screen the second season of the Irish crime drama Kin following the success of the first series on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
On Friday, the BBC confirmed that it had acquired season two of "the gripping, character-driven Irish crime drama" from the distribution company Fifth Season.
The broadcaster told UK fans they would soon see "the return of a star-studded cast including Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Clare Dunne (The Last Duel), Francis Magee (The Witcher), Sam Keeley (The Cured), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander), Emmett J Scanlan (Peaky Blinders), and Yasmin Seky".
"All I will say is if you found the first series exciting and engrossing, just wait until you see the twists and turns in series two!" said the BBC's Head of Programme Acquisition, Sue Deeks.
Jennifer Ebell, Executive Vice President of Europe, Middle East and Africa Sales and Acquisitions at Fifth Season, added: "The Kinsellas are back and the stakes are higher than ever. Season two of this family crime drama is explosive and we are pleased the BBC joins the growing number of our international partners."
Written and created by Peter McKenna and co-created by Ciarán Donnelly, Kin is produced by BRON Studios and Headline Pictures, in association with RTÉ, with support from Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.
In December, Kin star Emmett J Scanlan told RTÉ Entertainment that there have been "positive rumblings" for a third season.
Season two of Kin premiered on RTÉ One last spring, and seasons one and two are available on the RTÉ Player.
