British folk rock band Mumford & Sons have teamed up with producer and singer Pharrell Williams for Good People, their first new music since 2019.
It marks the band's return to releasing music following the departure of founding member and banjo player Winston Marshall in June 2021 after he caused controversy when he tweeted about US journalist Andy Ngo's book Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan To Destroy Democracy.
In a tweet, which he later deleted, Marshall, the son of wealthy British investor Paul Marshall (an early investor in British TV channel GB News), said he had read the "important" book and he praised Ngo as a "brave man".

At the time Marshall admitted his departure, was a "difficult decision first brought about by an unintentional Twitter storm".
Mumford & Sons, who enjoyed huge success with their debut album Sigh No More in 2009 and follow-up Babel, in 2012,, are now a trio, featuring Marcus Mumford, who is married to actress Carey Mulligan, Ben Lovett, and Ted Dwane.
Recorded and produced with Pharrell in New York and Paris, Good People received its live debut this evening at Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton Paris fashion week show.

Mumford & Sons and Pharrell struck up a friendship over ten years ago while touring and had always talked about making music together.
The band returned to the festival circuit last summer and Pharrell again at his Something In The Water festival at Virginia and they agreed to write and record together, with Pharrell producing.
Pharrell also joins the band on backing vocals on the track, along with the Native Vocalists, a six-piece vocal choir from the USA and Canada, who hail from Native American Tribes within the Northern Great Plains.
