Cillian Murphy is among the nominees for this year's Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards in the US for his performance in Oppenheimer.

Golden Globe winner Murphy is nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role category for his work on the Christopher Nolan-directed film.

The winners of Screen Actors Guild Awards are seen as the favourites to go on and win the corresponding Oscars.

In Murphy's Best Actor category, the winner of the SAG Award has gone on to win the Oscar 23 times since 1995.

It is the first time Murphy has been nominated at the SAG Awards, which are voted on by his peers.

In the film categories this year, Oppenheimer and Barbie lead the nominations with four apiece. In the television categories, Succession leads the nominations with five.

The SAG Awards take place at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium on Saturday 24 February and will be streamed live on Netflix.
