One of the most anticipated nights in the entertainment calendar is here, as the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards kick off in California.
The nominees and notable figures from the world of film and TV are currently walking the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel ahead of the awards ceremony which begins at approximately 1am Irish time.
Barry Keoghan, one of three Irish nominees for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, donned a red textured Louis Vuitton suit and was the first Irish actor to be photographed on the red carpet.

The actor is nominated for his performance in Saltburn. This is his second Golden Globe nomination, after he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in The Banshees of Inisherin last year.
Meanwhile Irish actor Andrew Scott, who is also nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, said that he is missing All Of Us Strangers co-star Paul Mescal, with whom he has been doing a press tour in recent weeks.
"I'm just so sorry he's not here," he told Entertainment Tonight. "I miss him. He's 'Gladiating' in Malta," referring to Mescal's upcoming role in the Gladiator sequel.
The actor wore a white suit for the awards show.

Also appearing on the red carpet was Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy, who rounded off the trio of Irish actors who are vying to take home the Best Actor gong.

Pop sensation Taylor Swift chose a green sequinned dress. Her concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, a new category in the awards this year.

Jennifer Lopez chose a baby pink fitted gown with oversized flower-embellished sleeves and teased her upcoming new music video to reporters.
She told Variety, "I think it might surprise some people - it’s a meta story about the journey that it takes to get from heartbreak back to love.
"I am somewhat of an expert, you could say, in a weird way, not so much in marriage but in weddings.
"Life is a crazy journey where you fall down and get back up and you keep trying and you never give up."

Rosamund Pike, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in Saltburn, chose a black gown with a black mesh top and a structured black veil.
She told Variety that the film inspired her outfit, and that she chose to wear a veil as she injured her face in a recent accident. "It’s a protective veil. I had an accident over Christmas, I had a skiing accident, not what you want, not what you want when you're coming to the Golden Globes on 7 January.
"On 26 December, my face was entirely smashed up and I thought I need to do something."
"Actually it’s healed, but I fell in love with the look."

Margot Robbie told reporters that she was dressed as Superstar Barbie from 1977.
"I just woke up and I thought maybe this will be appropriate tonight," she joked about her Armani outfit on the red carpet.
Robbie is nominated for Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture for her role in box office juggernaut Barbie, which has a total of nine nominations.
"We'd go to the theatres on opening weekend, and then weekends and weekends and weekends after that just seeing that sea of people wearing pink or dressed up as Ken or whatever, it was such a wild feeling and I just haven’t seen this communal kind of experience at the theatres since I was a kid."




Jennifer Lawrence, who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for her starring role in coming-of-age comedy No Hard Feelings, chose a black gown for the ceremony.

Emma Stone, who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for Poor Things, posed alongside the film's director Yorgos Lanthimos.

Oprah appeared in a violet dress, referencing her role as co-producer on the remake of The Color Purple.

Helen Mirren, who is nominated Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series (Drama) wore a lilac dress and full length coat with exaggerated sleeves.






Red proved to be a popular colour on the night, with both model Heidi Klum and Florence Pugh among the stars to don the hue.









Leonardo DiCaprio is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama).
