Irish actress Nicola Coughlan has posted a series of photos on Instagram from the upcoming third series of Netflix period drama Bridgerton.

Captioning the photos "Season 3", one photo shows the Galway actress as Penelope Featherington alongside Colin Bridgerton, who is played Luke Newton, while the other photos show the Bridgerton family in various groupings.

The streaming giant previously confirmed that new season will be split into two four-episode parts, with Part One premiering on 16 May 2024, followed by Part Two on 13 June.

According to the official synopsis for the new season, "Bridgerton is back for its third season and finds Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her last season.

"She has, however, decided it's time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters."

The new season will also see the return of series regulars Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Hannah Dodd (Francesca Bridgerton), and Simone Ashley (Kate Sharma).
