Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Virgin TV on Demand

Indiana Jones returns in an old-fashioned caper (and fedora); there's a Weakest Link Christmas special, and Christmas classic Die Hard is worth another watch - here's our top telly for today

Celine Byrne's Christmas Selection Box, 8.25pm, RTÉ One

Irish opera star Celine Byrne showcases a selection of her favourite performances from RTÉ’s Christmas shows. They include the likes of Andrea Corr, The Voice Squad, Lisa O’Neill and Erica-Cody, as well as the Choir of St Patrick’s Cathedral, and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra with Johnny Logan and Eimear Quinn.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Virgin TV on Demand

It's always nice to see a beloved old relic dusted off and brought back to life to be venerated all over again but that’s enough about Harrison Ford’s de-aging for this last (right?) outing as Indiana Jones. The man who has been Indy on and off for over forty years returns to crack the whip and lose - and then reclaim - his iconic fedora one more time and thankfully this is quite the old-fashioned thrill ride. It’s a caper involving Nazis, an ancient doohickie and some decent chemistry between Ford and sidekick Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Read Alan Corr’s review.

The Weakest Link Christmas Special, BBC Two, 8.10pm

Romesh Ranganathan brings his festive cheer to a star-studded Christmas special. Eight celebrities initially have to work together to try to win up to £50,000 for their individual chosen charity in one of the world’s most iconic quizzes. In each round, a player is voted the weakest link by their fellow contestants and leaves with nothing. One will be crowned the strongest link and will take the prize ho-ho-home! The festive line-up is Alex Jones, Cliff Parisi, Coleen Nolan, Dane Baptiste, Mel Schilling, Danny Beard, Paul Zerdin and Meryl Williams.

Fánaíocht, TG4, 9,00pm

Colm Mac Con Iomaire

Fánaíocht is a cinematic celebration of music and its nomadic essence, exploring the musical migrations that define its evolution through time and geography. Ray Cuddihy takes us on a journey through Galway's inaugural Songs from an Open Road festival with guests including Colm Mac Con Iomaire and Jessie Lloyd.

Die Hard, Channel 4, 9.00pm

Is it a Christmas movie or not? Who cares when the entertainment and action is as top notch as this. Bruce Willis toplines as New York cop John McClane who fetches up in LA to find the skyscraper his estranged wife works in has been hijacked by a group of very nasty terrorists. Alan Rickman chews the scenery as top baddie Hans Gruber in what is one of the best action flicks ever made. Yippee ki yay, turkey munchers!
