Ruth Negga joins forces with Dan Levy in Netflix movie Good Grief

Oscar-nominated Ruth Negga is starring in dramedy Good Grief, written and directed by Dan Levy for Netflix.

The Passing actress plays Sophie in The Schitt's Creek actor's debut film as both a writer and director.

The movie centres on Marc, played by Dan Levy, who loses both his husband and mother in close succession.

Negga's character Sophie and her husband Thomas - played by EastEnders actor Himesh Patel - care for Marc and embark on a trip to Paris, where they all have issues to confront.

Speaking at the Good Grief premiere, Levy described the film as "funny . . . bittersweet, it’s a project that’s helped me work through my own grief.

"And I hope it does the same for other people as well."

Ruth Negga has a busy 2024 ahead of her, starring in Chicago crime TV series Presumed Innocent and roles in two films, Night Boat to Tangier and Monstrous Beauty.

Good Grief will be available to stream from Friday January 5.
