Violinist Julieanne Forrest and pianist Dida Condria perform a double headliner at the Solstice Arts Centre, Navan on 5 January. We asked Julieanne the BIG questions . . .
They have both already played in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, the National Concert Hall in Dublin, Casa Verdi Milan and Sibu Filarmonica.
Dida was a Keyboard Category Finalist in the most recent edition of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition, and the winner of the BBC Walter Todds Bursary. In September 2019, Julieanne was announced as the National Concert Hall Young Musician of the Year for Strings.
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I am 21 years old. I have been playing the violin since I was six years old. I am passionate about running.
How would you describe your music?
I mostly play classical music, and this is what I study, but I enjoy all genres. For me, music is the easiest way to express my emotions.
Who are your musical inspirations?
The Dutch violinist Janine Jansen is one of my biggest inspirations.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Vladimir Jablokov at Trim Castle Hotel when I was seven. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Brahms Symphony No.1. It was gifted to me by my late Grandad.
What's your favourite song right now?
Something by the Beatles.
Favourite lyric of all time?
"Look up here, I’m in heaven" - Lazarus by David Bowie. The fact that the song was released just before his death makes the lyrics even more poignant.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Frank Sinatra - My Way.
Where can people find your music/more information?
