Have yourself a Mary Berry Christmas!
Have yourself a Mary Berry Christmas!

Festive food is on the menu in Mary Berry's Highland Christmas, spicy drama The Couple Next Door continues, the Champions League group stage comes to a conclusion, and there's another chance to see Nothing to Declare . . .

Mary Berry's Highland Christmas, 9.00pm, BBC One

For this special, Mary Berry travels to her mother's homeland of Scotland for a magical winter break.

Inspired by her own family holidays, she cooks up an array of sumptuous dishes that can be enjoyed at any time over the Christmas holidays.

She is joined by friends Andy Murray (below), Iain Stirling and Emeli Sande.

Mary begins her journey on a steam train, heading off into the beautiful Highlands. After settling into her cosy holiday kitchen, Mary kicks things off by creating a spectacular Christmas Cranachan wreath, combining the traditional Scottish dessert with a pavlova twist.

She then visits tennis player Andy Murray’s hotel in Dunblane, where she catches up with his granny. They cook kedgeree, a classic breakfast dish, while Andy's culinary skills are tested.

Iain Stirling attempts to herd some reindeer while Mary rustles up an indulgent Christmas fondue with a twist, proving her theory that everything tastes better with melted cheese.

Mary makes her Highland pie with Aberdeen Angus beef and pickled walnuts.

Later, Aberdeenshire-raised singer Emeli Sande pops in to help Mary make her classic bûche de Noël.

The Couple Next Door, 9.00pm, Channel 4

The eyebrow-raising drama following a couple whose relationship with their new neighbours reaches the penultimate stage.

As the six-part drama heads towards a climax, things get a little too close for comfort for all involved.

It's all around an ultimatum from Pete (Alfred Enoch) that only serves to deepen Evie's (Eleanor Tomlinson) obsession with Danny (Sam Heughan).

Meanwhile, Danny's plan is thwarted by Pete and Sophie's (Ioanna Kimbook) front-page scoop.

Live UEFA Champions League, 7.00pm, Virgin Media Two

Tonight sees the last-ever group stage games as we know it in the Champions League, as it’s being restructured next season to create even more games.

Among the key fixtures as sides jostle for the remaining places up for grabs in the knockouts, Newcastle United host Milan (KO 8pm) at St James’s Park.

The reverse fixture at San Siro ended in an uneventful goalless draw, but for either of these teams to progress, they need to win tonight.

Even that will not be enough, as they’ll also be hoping that Paris Saint-Germain fail to beat already-qualified Borussia Dortmund, with only a Paris defeat enough for Milan.

A League of Their Own Christmas Special, 9.00pm, Sky Max

Streaming on NOW

In this Festive special, Romesh Ranganathan (above) and the gang are joined in the studio for fun and games by Manchester United and French International legend Patrice Evra as well as award-winning comedian Rob Beckett.

Together, the gang make a special visit to London Premier League club Brentford to cook a Christmas lunch for the players.

Nothing to Declare, 10.10pm, RTÉ One

Streaming on RTÉ Player

Here’s a repeat that’s well worth a look – though the original RTÉ Radio One doc about the adventure these lads went on is a fantastic listen.

It tells the outrageous story of two Irish stowaways aged just 10 and 13 who went on the adventure of a lifetime from Darndale in Dublin to New York’s Manhattan in the summer of 1985.

The bonus here is that the adult Keith Byrne and Noel Murray (above) recount their childhood journey for the first time on screen.
