Jenny and Carla fail to persuade Audrey to hand over Stephen's journal. Daisy tells Jenny not to give up as she deserves a cut of that money for what she went through and she could buy the Rovers back. Daisy forms a plan and steals David's keys, letting herself into No. 8. However, it's not long before Audrey arrives back, will she be found?

Later, Jenny approaches Carla and asks her if she'll lend her some money so that she can apply for a mortgage and buy the Rovers back. Jenny and Daisy secure a loan for the pub from the bank and are hopeful it will soon be theirs.

Meanwhile, Peter is worried his relationship with Carla has run its course as she is totally preoccupied with the factory. When Peter reveals that he's got a support group meeting, Carla offers to go with him. She is shocked and concerned when he admits that he's lost all interest in life and every day has become a chore.

Desperate to get away from his problems, Ed tells Aggie he is coming to spend Christmas with her, but as he opens the front door he comes face-to-face with Tony, who barges into the house. When Ed's phone rings with a call from Aggie, Tony threatens to tell her everything. Ed makes a grab for the phone, but Tony punches him, knocking him to the floor.

In the Bistro, Michael shows off the watch he bought Ed for Christmas, engraved with the words 'For the World's Best Dad. Our Hero'. The Baileys return home to find Ed nursing a cut lip and all the presents gone and he tells them the house was robbed.

On Christmas Day, Tracy is unimpressed to realise she's cooking for ten at the Barlows and makes a joke about relationship gap years that causes friction between her and Steve.

Over at No.3. Ed is guilty as he watches the family unwrap the few meagre presents they managed to salvage and feels even worse when he unwraps his inscribed watch.

Peter gives Carla a beautiful present, a bracelet inscribed with 'P loves C'. But he is shocked when she reveals what she has bought him.

On St Stephen's Day, Carla and Peter look back over their tumultuous relationship and come to the realisation that they may be better off apart. As Peter prepares to bid farewell to Weatherfield, he is touched and surprised to find the whole family, with the exception of Simon, waiting outside.
