Friday, who has previously worked with U2, Maurice Seezer, Sinead O’Connor and Quincy Jones, has recorded a new narration for the film.
According to the publicity for the new film, "The special transforms Sergei Prokofiev’s much-loved symphony into an enchanting and contemporary visual masterpiece that touches on themes of growing up, loss, courage, transformation, and our relationship with nature.
"With spellbinding punky illustrations, the dramatic new take echoes the message of courage that is central to the famous classic, while gently introducing themes of loss, grief, and growing up to help young readers understand and navigate these complex issues and emotions.
"With a heart-warming twist at the end, this book is a beautiful reminder that there is hope after loss and those we love most are never truly gone."
Speaking about the project, Bono said, "Gavin's retelling of the classic Peter & the Wolf story is as original as he is. Sometimes a story like this can sneak into your heart and never leave. To see some of my illustrations evolve in this reimagining is a thrill."
Funds raised from this incredible new project will support the Irish Hospice Foundation.
