Limerick roots-rock band have released their new EP, In Absence of Trees. We asked them the BIG questions . . .

They cite inspirations such as The Beatles, The Animals, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Bob Dylan,

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

Luke: We decided we were going to stop playing together three years ago but we keep being offered gigs, our name is derived from a Samuel Beckett play of the same name and there's almost a dozen contributors to our upcoming album and our aspiration is to play a stage big enough to fit us all!

How would you describe your music?

Luke: We’re trying to come at the boyband idea from a new angle. Instead of writing pop songs aimed at teenaged girls we write country rock aimed at dads that love cars and barbecuing.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Liam: I think Big Brother and The Holding Company’s album Cheap Thrills was the first big common inspiration for us. That set a real direction for us to go in and then we took a lot from CSNY, Donovan and The Byrds.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Luke: JLS in Thomond Park.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Luke: Paul Simon - Paul Simon.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Luke: A Little Lost - Arthur Russell.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Liam: "I do not know what age I am, I am no mortal age, I know nothing of women, Nothing of cities, I cannot die, Unless I walk outside these whitethorn hedges." - Innocence by Patrick Kavangh.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Liam: Lover You Should’ve Come Over by Jeff Buckley, it pulls the heartstrings every time.

Where can people find your music/more information?

Liam: All information about we were up to can be found on our Instagram which is @cascando__ and you can find our music on most major streaming platforms. If you want to show additional support to our music you can buy a song on our Bandcamp, too!
