Evil in the Room: The Ashling Murphy Story, 10.20pm, Virgin Media One

The murder of the 23-year-old primary school teacher and traditional Irish musician Ashling Murphy, who was stabbed while out running along the Grand Canal just outside Tullamore, Co Offaly, in January 2022, shocked the nation.

It was a senseless and barbaric act that left an innocent young woman's family and boyfriend devastated.

She was killed in a motiveless attack by Jozef Puska, who was given a mandatory life sentence for his crime.

Here’s the latest in the RTÉ Investigates series, which digs deep into yet another potential scandal.

In this special, reporter Barry O'Kelly (above) investigates allegations of planning appeals made against residential and industrial developments that are later withdrawn in return for cash payoffs.

RTÉ Investigates follows the journeys of several developers who have come up against these men and found themselves out of time, out of options and out of pocket. Tonight's programme will identify the two men and feature substantial covert video and audio recordings.

Professor Geraint Ellis, Lecturer in Planning, Queens University told RTÉ Investigates: "There's been rumours that these things happen. But to see evidence of this and such high amounts of money is fairly shocking."

In a time of a national housing crisis, an increasing number of developers say they are being held up by highly questionable appeals, which can take up to a year to be heard.

People say they are being held to ransom by mischievous planning objections that claim to be about protecting the environment.

Boat Story, 9.00pm, BBC One

It’s the sixth and final episode of this drugs 'n' gangsters-filled thriller as Janet and Samuel hurtle towards their final face-off with the Tailor.

As the gangster's twisted past comes to light, they realise they must act fast as Pat Tooh's life hangs in the balance.

After parting ways with Janet, Samuel believes he has found his ending, but it isn't everything he had hoped for as he learns there's a price for all his dishonesty.

Christmas Secrets of Supermarket Own-Brands, 8.00pm, Channel 4

Okay, this is UK-based, but Irish viewers might learn a trick or two as we head into the Festive Season.

Denise Van Outen (below) unwraps the truth about own-label products, looking at everything from festive foods and fizz, and mince pies and cheese, to gifts and make-up.

As people make plans to indulge at Christmas but aim to keep their spending in the low side, Denise reveals the most essential secret of all - which big brands secretly make the cheaper own-label version.

Love & Death, 9.30pm, RTÉ2

The crime thriller, based on a true story, continues with Elizabeth Olsen (who's been brilliant) and Jesse Plemons as the odd Texan couple who end up having what proves to be a deadly affair.

Following a grisly struggle, Candy attempts to go about her day as normal, while Allan grows concerned when his repeated calls to Betty go unanswered.
