Pick of the Day

Strictly Come Dancing: Musicals Special, 7.25pm, BBC One

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman host a musicals-themed episode, which opens with a group routine by the professional dancers inspired by Lerner & Lowe's My Fair Lady.

Then the five remaining contestants Bobby Brazier, Annabel Croft, Nigel Harman, Ellie Leach and Layton Williams take to the ballroom floor with performances inspired by the world of musical theatre.

Naturally, they’ll be hoping to impress the viewers and judges so they can secure a place in next week's semi-final.

Don’t Miss

Bob Dylan: Shadow Kingdom, 10.00pm, BBC Two

A bit of a late-night tribute to someone regarded by many as the greatest songwriter of the 20th Century.

It opens with a showcase featuring Bob Dylan with his band in an intimate setting as he performs songs from his extensive back catalogue, including Forever Young, I'll Be Your Baby Tonight and It's All Over Now, Baby Blue.

Bob Dylan: No Direction Home follows at 10.50pm. It’s Martin Scorsese's celebrated two-part profile of the singer, featuring rare interviews and archive footage.

The first half examines Dylan's formative years, with contributions by childhood friends and teachers on his earliest musical efforts and also explores his arrival on New York's thriving early 1960s folk scene and the artists who influenced his work.

The concluding part at 12.45am takes a dark turn. Already a phenomenon at the age of 23, Dylan struggled to find a new musical vocabulary.

The old Left hoped he would be a political activist, while the media wanted him to articulate the concerns of America's youth, but neither role interested Dylan.

Insomniacs and Dylan fanatics might stay up to watch ...Sings Dylan II at2.15am,

Which features cover versions of Bob Dylan songs sourced from the BBC archives.

Performers include Joan Baez, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Hollies, Adele (above), Julie Felix, Richie Havens, Bryan Ferry and KT Tunstall.
