Phil Coulter to get December rolling at the Bord Gáis

He's been writing songs and performing since the 1960s and this Friday night December 1 Phil Coulter brings his Four Score And Then Nationwide Tour to Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.

From the Derry anthem The Town I loved So Well to his most recent hit, 2021’s Dear God, he’s enjoyed an incredible and wide-ranging career in showbiz. And at 81 he’s still a keen entertainer.

His Ireland’s call’ is the Irish rugby anthem, and he’s the only Irish artist to have a song recorded by Elvis Presley.

His song Puppet On a String for Sandie Shaw when she won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1967 and nearly repeated his success the following year when Congratulations, sung by Cliff Richard, came second in the Eurovision.

He has achieved world-wide recognition as a hit songwriter, notching up chart entries with a diverse list of artists from Luke Kelly to Cilla Black to Waylon Jennings, from US lounge singer Bobby Vinton to 1970s’ boy band The Bay City Rollers.

His production credits include Van Morrison, the aforementioned Sinead O’Connor, Elvis Costello, Lisa Stansfield, Marianne Faithful and Richard Harris - while in Ireland his successes have ranged from the Dubliners to Planxty, from Paddy Reilly to the Furey Brothers.

He will be joined at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre by special guests Geraldine Branagan and rising star George Hutton.
As the man himself said: "Fashions may fade but quality is timeless".
