Back in 2020, in the midst of the Covid pandemic, US rock legend Bruce Springsteen appeared on The Late Late Show via video link and called called Shane MacGowan a "master".
Former Late Late host Ryan Tubridy interviewed the superstar singer-songwriter, who joined the show from his studio on his farm at home in New Jersey.
During their chat, Springsteen described the Pogues frontman and acclaimed songwriter as "a master".
"He's the man! I truly believe that," he said.
"As I said on my radio show... I truly believe that a hundred years from now most of us will be forgotten, but I do believe that Shane's music is going to be remembered and sung.
"It's just deep in the nature of it. He's a master for me and I have a deep, deep appreciation of his work and the work he did with The Pogues."
