Pick of the Day
Northern Lights, 10.30pm, TG4
Set in Dublin city centre’s Capel Street and the adjoining quays, Northern Lights tells the story of two grieving strangers, Lloyd (Stephen Jones) and Áine (Elva Trill), whose worlds collide when Lloyd notices Áine standing on Grattan Bridge.
A haplessly optimistic Dubliner, Lloyd’s life was turned upside down by a tragic event that threatens to unravel his otherwise happy life.
While seeking light in the darkness, he forms an unlikely friendship with Áine, a strong-minded woman.
Two lost souls, they slowly start connecting - but even as they open up, it's clear that each of them is holding something back. They each have a secret.
A series of revelations, confessions, secrets and lies follow, leading to Lloyd and Áine becoming beacons of light for one another when they need it most.
Northern Lights is Stephen Jones’s (Love/ Hate, KIN, Red Rock) screenwriting debut. It's adapted from his original stage play and is produced by Deadpan Pictures in Association with Lionsgate and Screen Ireland.
