In this new series, Liz Bonnin explores the natural wonders of the region and its remarkable ecosystems, encountering its wildlife and meeting inspiring local conservationists.
She begins in the Greater Antilles, where people are learning to forge a new relationship with the animals that inhabit this wild terrain.
On the island of Hispaniola in the Dominican Republic, she helps residents of the tiny village of Los Limones scale a 60ft palm tree to retrieve a Ridgeway's hawk chick at risk of a deadly parasitic infection.
