Ashley Jensen replaces the departed Douglas Henshall as the Scottish-based drama returns for an eighth season.
Met detective Ruth Calder (Jensen) returns to Shetland on the trail of a vulnerable witness and must team up with Tosh on a case that will test their fragile, new partnership.
On top of the case, Calder is faced with figures from her past and cringes through a chance encounter with deadbeat ex-boyfriend Cal Innes.
Even worse is her visit to estranged younger brother Alan, now the minister of their father's old kirk, as it's clear that the two siblings have starkly different views of their childhood.

The first episode is preceded at 10pm by Margi Clarke Remembers Making Out, where she shares her memories of playing the no-nonsense Queenie.

Donal Skehan returns to the telly with a new show that demonstrates easy-to-follow recipes, with practical cooking tips and advice on time-saving hacks.
In the first episode, Donal shares his quick-fix, weekday recipes, including chicken satay served with rice and greens.
There’s also a vibrant and comforting prawn pil pil pasta, a tasty cheat's ramen, and a silky peppery gnocchi that you can get to the table in no time.
How to Cook Well with Rory O'Connell, 8.00pm, RTÉ One

The chef marks his 40th anniversary of teaching students to cook, with this seventh season of his popular show.
Each programmme seeing him prepares trio of dishes that make a harmonious and perfectly balanced three-course meal, or be served individually.
He begins with grapefruit, lovage and cucumber with grapefruit granita, followed by poached mackerel with Bretonne sauce, tomato and basil fondue, and a delicious Irish coffee meringue with whiskey caramel sauce to finish.
Doctor Who @ 60: A Musical Celebration, 8.30pm, BBC Four
Jo Whiley introduces this concert celebrating the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who from Cardiff's Hoddinott Hall, featuring the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the BBC Singers conducted by Alastair King.
Music includes the first live performance of Ruby Sunday's theme The Life of Sunday, and composer Murray Gold's best-known Doctor Who themes, including I Am the Doctor, The Long Song, Doomsday and Abigail's Song (Silence Is All You Know).
The classic years are also featured as the Radiophonic Workshop's Mark Ayres and Peter Howell hark back to the days of the Sea Devils, City of Death and The Five Doctors.

Roman Kemp: The Fight for Young Life, 9.00pm, BBC Three
Broadcaster Roman Kemp (below, with his dad Martin) knows first-hand the impact of serious mental health issues.
In 2020, he made Our Silent Emergency in the wake of the death of a friend, where he encouraged those in need to talk to friends, family and professionals.
Here he strives to move the conversation on from talking about mental health to discovering what action is needed to support those suffering.

The Detectives: Taking Down the OCG, 9.00pm, BBC Two
Following the discovery of a new witness in the axe-attack attempted murder case, victim Cameron and detectives from the Rochdale Organised Crime Team must once again face suspected members of the ADAM OCG in court.
As the investigation into the wider activities of the gang builds to a tense conclusion, the Rochdale unit focus on taking down the most senior suspected gang members, and cameras follow a series of simultaneous raids as police attempt to dismantle the OCG once and for all.
