Fan reaction to Taylor Swift’s re-released 1989 album has been mainly positive, with Swifties around the world taking to social media to voice their opinions and feelings on the new release.

The 21-track offering marks the next stage of the US megastar's ambitious re-record of her entire back catalogue to regain control of her master recordings.

1989 (Taylor's Version) features five previously unheard tracks has been branded by certain critics as "a pop masterclass".

The furore about the album caused several music streaming services to struggle to cope with demand, with Apple Music users experiencing issues downloading and streaming the new release.

Other fans posted photos of themselves rushing to shops to pick up a physical copy of the album.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) features hit songs including Blank Space, Bad Blood and Shake It Off, as well as never-before-released songs "from the vault" such as Say Don’t Go, Now That We Don’t Talk and Suburban Legends.

One new song, Is It Over Now, is proving controversial. In it, Swift criticises a former partner for being a "lying traitor" and sleeping with a series of models after they broke up, with fans speculating that she may be referring to Harry Styles, who she dated for a short time in 2012.

The lyrics include, "If she's got blue eyes / I'll surmise that you'll probably date her / you dream of my mouth before it called you a lying traitor / you search in every model's bed for somethin' greater, baby."
