British comedian Eddie Izzard, also known as Suzy Eddie Izzard, has said she feels "more content" as a trans woman.
Speaking to The Guardian newspaper while promoting her new film Doctor Jekyll, she was asked if she always knew she was female, Izzard said: "I've always known that I had both boy and girl genetics.
"We know we are a mixture: XX and XY, not XX and YY. We start in the foetus as girls and some get coded boys.
"We have an obsession about separating with crowbars. I feel the spectrum is true - who you fancy, how you self-identify - and the slider can be anywhere.
"Since I came out 38 years ago, I have the gift of both. I was based as a cis male; now I feel more content based as a trans woman."
In March, Izzard announced a name she wanted to "add" to what she is currently called.
The stand-up star, who previously described her identity as gender-fluid, said her full name is now Suzy Eddie Izzard – with Suzy being a name she has wanted to use since childhood.
Izzard said she makes "mistakes" with her pronouns and when people do use she/her it feels like "hits of positivity".
Doctor Jekyll is released in cinemas on 27 October
