Pick of the Day

Paul Weller Night, BBC Four

Weller at the BBC, 9.00pm

The night opens with a compilation of performances tracking the career of singer-songwriter Paul Weller.

It features footage spanning his career revealing how he evolved from his beginnings in mod-punk trio the Jam to the more soulful sound of the Style Council and finally on to his solo work.

The programme also features Weller duetting with Noel Gallagher on That's Entertainment, and with Amy Winehouse (below) on Etta Jones' Don't Go to Strangers.

Paul Weller: Live at the Barbican, 10.00pm

Edith Bowman presents Weller's concert at the London venue in May 2021, his first live gig in two years, when he was backed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, with arrangements by Jules Buckley.

It features songs drawn from Weller's long career, with classics from the Jam, the Style Council and his four decades as a solo artist, with guest appearances by Boy George, James Morrison and Celeste.

BBC Four Sessions, 11.30pm

In a concert first broadcast in 2008, Paul Weller performs at BBC Television Centre with his five-piece band and, for some numbers, the Wired Strings and a brass section.

The set includes songs from his album 22 Dreams, together with classics from his solo career and time with the Jam.

The musician is joined on stage by former Oasis guitarist Gem Archer for a rendition of Echoes Round the Sun, fiddle player Eliza Carthy for a version of Wild Wood and Blur guitarist Graham Coxon on Black River.

Don’t Miss

The Graham Norton Show, 10.40pm, BBC One

Veteran actress Judi Dench (below) discusses her book Shakespeare: The Man Who Pays the Rent and Arnold Schwarzenegger talks about his road-map for life Be Useful: Seven Tools For Life.

Comedian and actor Jack Whitehall and The Repair Shop's Jay Blades are also on the show, and Duran Duran perform their new single, Black Moonlight.

The Late Late Show, 9.35pm, RTÉ One

Streaming on RTÉ Player

Another night of chat, music and entertainment hosted by Patrick Kielty.

League of Ireland Live, 7.45pm, RTÉ2

Streaming on RTÉ Player

It’s St Patrick's Athletic v Shamrock Rovers (KO 8pm) in the penultimate round of Premier Division fixtures, held at Richmond Park.

A Rovers win would secure their fourth successive title, but a victory for St Pat's would see them move into second place and keep them give them an outside chance of winning the league for the first time since 2013.

Well, at least until Monday when the Hoops head to Leeside to take on relegation-threatened Cork City.

Peter Collins presents, with analysis from Graham Gartland and Conan Byrne.

Ghosts, 8.30pm, BBC One

The ghosts are officially bored, and Pat comes up with new entertainment for the gang.

Mike and Alison host their international buyer at Button House in order to confirm the land sale, but Mike's antics threaten the whole deal - can he pull it back in time?

Meanwhile, Humphrey is offered a fresh perspective on his strained marriage and finally learns some French, with a little help from a most unexpected source.

New or Returning Shows

A Ring and a Prayer, 8.00pm, RTÉ One

Streaming on RTÉ Player

This documentary looks at what happens when two people from different cultures and faith traditions decide to tie the knot, following couples as they prepare for their big days.

In the opening edition, Cassandra from South Africa and Emma from the Philippines get ready to marry Irishmen Sam and Gavin.

New to Stream

The Enfield Poltergeist, Disney+

Back in 1977, Peggy Hodgson rang the police to report that the furniture in her London home was moving.

What happened next is reconstructed here. It's the story of a troubled family, a paranormal investigator who wanted to believe and perhaps a little mischief.

What's special about this latest look at The Enfield Poltergeist (Sky did a series on it fairly recently) is that it uses actors lip-syncing over the actual recordings made by investigator Maurice Grosse.

Sebastian Fitzek's Therapy, Prime Video

This series is adapted from Fitzek's novel Therapy and focuses on therapist Viktor Larenz (Stephan Kampwirth) who has retreated to an almost deserted island after the disappearance of his daughter.

But far from escaping or gaining any relief from that nightmare, he’s plagued by physical and mental manifestations of his trauma. But - guess what? - nothing is quite as it seems.

Tore, Netflix

Here’s a coming-of-age (and coming out) drama from Sweden.

When 27-year-old Tore loses the most important person in his life in a bin truck accident, he does everything he can to suppress his grief.

Ending Today

Billions, 9.00pm, Sky Atlantic, Paramount+ and NOW

Streaming on NOW

I gave up on this daft drama years ago, but it obviously managed to keep enough people interested to last for seven seasons.

Trust is built and broken as fate hangs in the balance for all when Chuck, Axe and Prince have the ultimate showdown in the final episode of the series starring Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti.
