Kiera Dignam, daughter of late Aslan frontman Christy Dignam, has said 2023 has been a difficult year but she "pushed through the grief process" to finish her new album Nepo Baby to honour her dad's legacy.

The album is the first fruits of her first ever record deal with German label AGR-TV Records, who she signed with last September.

"Needless to say, 2023 has been a difficult year, but through the grief process I found inspiration to push forward and finish my album," Kiera said.

"Not only to honour my dad’s legacy but also come out of the shadows and show who I am as a musician."

"My dad got to hear the rough draft of the album before he passed. I know he’d be really proud seeing everything finally come together."

The lead single from the album is What If You Got It Wrong and speaking about the track, she says, "It’s been a long time in the works. I’ve been on the road with my band for fifteen years now but when it came to making an album, life always got in the way."

The single is written and produced by Co Limerick singer-songwriter Don Mescall, who has writing credits for Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, Cliff Richard, Rascal Flatts, Brian Kennedy, Frances Black, as well as Christy Dignam and Aslan.

Co-producer on the track was American session musician Tommy Harden who has worked with Reba McEntire, Alabama, Alan Jackson and Carole King.

"It was a pleasure to work with Don Mescall and Tommy Harden," Kiera adds. "They have absolutely stellar musical expertise, and they’ve both worked with some massive names on the international music scene. I’m really lucky to have had their input."

Kiera has been singing for over 23 years and touring with her own band for 15 years.

Her first single Ben, a cover of the Michael Jackson hit, won praise from Don Black, who wrote the track.
