Netflix has released the first trailer for Squid Game: The Challenge, its upcoming competition series based on its biggest ever show.
Squid Game was written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk and follows a group of desperate people who are invited to take part in a mystery game for a massive sum of money.
In October 2021, the dystopian Korean drama overtook Bridgerton to become the streaming giant's most popular show.

Squid Game: The Challenge follows 456 real players who will compete in a range of games inspired by the hit Korean show, with a record prize money of $4.56 million.
In the trailer for the epic looking series, the contestants get to grips with the elaborate sets and games contained therein.
A voiceover warns: "This game has to be played with strategy."
While one of the contestants cautions: "I'm going to be your best friend, but I absolutely will double cross you."
Another player declares: "You can't trust anybody in here."

A synopsis from Netflix about Squid Game: The Challenge reads: "As they compete through a series of games inspired by the original show - plus surprising new additions - their strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them."
The 10-episode series is produced by UK production companies Studio Lambert and The Garden.
Squid Game: The Challenge premieres on Netflix on 22 November.
