Adele says she stopped drinking alcohol earlier this year, adding that she was a "borderline alcoholic" during her 20s.

The singer (35) revealed her new teetotal status while talking to fans during her show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas over the weekend, reports The Guardian newspaper.

"I stopped drinking maybe like three and a half months ago. It's boring. I mean, I was literally borderline alcoholic for quite a lot of my 20s, but I miss it so much," she said during her Weekends with Adele residency, which comes to an end on 4 November.

She added: "So enjoy your whiskey sour. I’m very, very jealous."

Speaking to US Vogue last year, the Londoner admitted that during lockdown her drinking "got earlier and earlier."

"I’ve always had a very close relationship with alcohol," she continued. "I was always very fascinated by alcohol. It’s what kept my dad from me.

"So, I always wanted to know what was so great about it."

However, she said that she soon realised that indulging in alcohol left her vulnerable to the media.

"They descend, and descend, and descend on you, which drives you f***ing mad."

Adele later told Oprah Winfrey that she had stopped drinking after her estranged father, Mark Evans, died in 2021.

"That’s one great way of really sort of getting to know yourself, is just drinking water and being sober as anything," she said.
