Frasier returns for a reboot that sees Dr Crane relocated back to Boston, Ireland host Greece in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, Laura Linney joins Graham Norton, while Corrie legend Barbara Knox celebrates her 90th birthday . . .
Pick of the Day
Frasier, Paramount+
Why? Why did they bring this great show back and risk its status as one of the great sitcoms?
Obliviously, so that mugs like me, and millions of others who loved the original, will tune in to see if this is any use.
This time around, the show is set in Boston rather than Seattle, which is where Cheers was based before that show ended and Frasier Crane relocated to the US northwest.
Former Only Fools and Horses star Nicholas Lyndhurst plays Alan Cornwall, an old college friend of Frasier, while Jack Cutmore-Scott (Tenet) has been cast as Freddy, Frasier's son, who's now a firefighter.
Apparently there will be appearances along the way from several Frasier favourites, including Bebe Neuwirth as Dr Lilith Sternin, Jane Leeves as Daphne, and Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle.
David Hyde Pierce is not reprising his role as Niles, while John Mahoney - who played Frasier and Niles' father Martin - died in 2018.
