Irish/Italian alt-rock artist Pier has released his new song, Campari. We asked him the BIG questions . . .
Speaking about the song, the Sardinian-born Dublin based musician aka Pierfrancesco Dessí says, "Although Campari has quite a nostalgic and dark sound, it's about that burning desire to connect deeply with someone special.

"While I'm keeping the personal stuff mostly under wraps (ha!), I can say that the goal was to capture the fired-up energy of a new infatuation, which can reach dangerous heights.
"Instead of dwelling on fleeting past emotions, I wanted this track to live in the present. Musically, I was eager to build upon the sound that I came up with in the studio for the previous single.
"Campari was our playground for more sonic experimentation, a break from the usual live band formation. We even had some fun tapping a Guinness glass with a fork to add some groovy beats, we had quite a lot of fun."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I'm from Sardinia, I moved to Dublin five years ago, before that I was working in a steel factory in Finland. I think I'm still fluent enough in Finnish, but it's like having a superpower nobody needs you to use ahahah.
How would you describe your music?
The easiest way I have to describe it is: imagine Jeff Buckley and Bon Iver had a baby and that baby started listening to every genre that was popular between the '90s and 2000s.
Who are your influences?
Jeff Buckley, Bon Iver, Bjork, Lisa Hannigan, Radiohead, Oasis, The Verve, Led Zeppelin . . . I could go on forever, and every day this answer would be different.
What was the first gig you ever attended?
I think it was Mauro Palmas back in my homeland Sardinia. My dad brought me along and I guess that's where my passion for Sardinian music comes from; Mauro Palmas is a truly unique artist that has contributed to the international export of Sardinian music and I feel so lucky to have experienced his magic live on multiple occasions.
What was the first record you bought/downloaded?
I still remember the first time I bought two CDs with my own money. It was Urban Hymns by The Verve and Definitely Maybe by Oasis. I kept getting harassed by my friends on the bus ride back home, I don’t know if they were more freaked out by me buying CDs or just listening to those bands ahahh.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Mountain of Spit by Really Good Time or Let Me Unlock Your Full Potential by Rachael Lavelle, but I don’t want to choose between them.
Favourite lyric of all time?
As cliched as this might sound this is it, you all know it: "There’s a feeling I get, When I look to the west And my spirit is crying for leaving".
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It would probably be The Musical Box by Genesis, there’s so much in it, dynamics, notes, feelings…. All you can ask for.
Where can we find more music and information about you?
