Kiss rock band members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are being sued following the death of one of their guitar technicians after he contracted COVID-19 while on tour with the band.
Francis Stueber, who had worked for the band as a guitar technician for about 20 years, died on 17 October, 2021, two days after contracting the virus while on tour with Kiss.
According to a new lawsuit, obtained by online entertainment publication TMZ, the Stueber family claim Stanley was the first to contract COVID-19.
The family say it then spread due to lax safety policies on the tour, with anyone who fell ill with the virus simply told to quarantine in a hotel room in whichever city the band was in, but few other instructions were given.
Stueber contracted COVID-19 in Detroit and was told to stay in the hotel, but the family allege that Kiss manager Doc McGhee failed to arrange for medical personnel to visit and examine him.
According to legal documents the Kiss manager asked another person on the tour to check on Stueber at the hotel, but he was already dead when the person arrived.
Kiss have released 44 albums and sold in excess of 100 million albums worldwide.
