Ireland's Angela Scanlon topped the leaderboard on Saturday night's Movie Week episode of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

Radio and TV presenter Scanlon, whose professional partner is Carlos Gu, danced the Charleston to Who's Got The Pain by Gwen Verdon & Bob Fosse, from the 1958 musical comedy Damn Yankees.

The pair were awarded 35 points from the judges, with a clearly elated Scanlon thrilled with receiving three nines and an eight from the panel.

The 39-year old presenter is best known for presenting home renovation show Your Home Made Perfect and its spin-off, Your Garden Made Perfect, as well as her RTÉ One Saturday night chat show, Angela Scanlon's Ask Me Anything.

Judge Anton Du Beke said of the performance: "I'll tell you this - that was the best number that I’ve seen on the whole series.

"It’s everything I love as a dancer. If I want to watch a dance, this is exactly how I want it to be performed, it is as clean as a whistle, you’ve got springs in your shoes, you’re all sort of bouncy and I love that," he said.

Craig Revel Horwood said Scanlon's performance was "absolutely brilliant", while Motsi Mabuse said it had a "perfect" level of energy.

Other notable performances on Saturday night included comedian Eddie Kadi, whose "couple's choice" dance was inspired by the film Men in Black. He was awarded the first ten of the series from Shirley Ballas and scored 34 points overall.

Actor and model Bobby Brazier and his partner Dianne Buswell danced the Samba to Young Hearts Run Free from Romeo and Juliet and scored 32 points.
