U2 have released the new punchy single Atomic City ahead of the band's upcoming residency in Las Vegas.
The 3-and-a-half-minute track was recorded at Sound City in Los Angeles and is an homage to the spirit of '70's post punk.
Produced by Jacknife Lee and Steve Lillywhite, the song has a nod to American rock band Blondie, whose pioneering work with Italian composer and producer Giorgio Moroder, the 'Father of Disco', inspired and influenced U2.
Bono said of the track: "It's a love song to our audience…'where you are is where I’ll be'."
The video for Atomic City was directed by Ben Kutchins and features U2's late night surprise performance of the track in Downtown Las Vegas just last week.
It's the same Fremont Street location where Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. filmed their iconic video for I Still Haven't Found What I’m Looking For over 36 years ago.
The Irish rockers will kick off their new show, U2: UV Achtung Baby Live, at the $1.8 billion state-of-the-art MSG Sphere venue in Las Vegas tonight, 29 September.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that the residency would take place without drummer Larry Mullen Jr as he recovers from surgery.
The 61-year-old Mullen told The Washington Post that a lifetime of drumming had taken its toll and required surgery, saying: "I'd like to take some time, which I will do to get myself healed."
His stand-in (not replacement) will be Dutch drummer Bram Van Den Berg of Tilburg-based band Krezip.

The 25-date run of shows at the MSG Sphere will mark the first time a band has had a residency at the new venue and will focus on U2's acclaimed 1991 album Achtung Baby.
