Netflix has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Squid Game: The Challenge, its upcoming competition series based on its biggest ever show.

The dystopian Korean drama, written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, follows desperate people who are invited to take part in a mystery game for a massive sum of money.

In October 2021, it overtook Bridgerton to become the streaming giant's most popular show.

Squid Game: The Challenge follows 456 real players who will compete in a range of games inspired by the hit Korean show, with a record prize money of $4.56 million.

The show is produced by UK production companies Studio Lambert and The Garden.
