A peak audience of 934,000 people tuned in for the first Late Late Show of the season last Friday night.
An average viewership of 830,000 watched on RTÉ One and RTÉ One +1 to see Patrick Kielty begin his stint as the new presenter of the world's longest-running live chatshow.
The programme also received 158,000 streams on RTÉ Player - making it the strongest ever Late Late Show season opener yet on the platform – while social media videos from the show have amassed 7.6 million views to date.
Kielty’s guests included Tommy Tiernan, former President Mary McAleese, footballer James McClean, and The 2 Johnnies, as well as live music from Chasing Abbey.
The show kicked off a bumper weekend for ratings on RTÉ, with the World Cup rugby game between Ireland and Tonga pulling in an average audience of 965,000 people, peaking at the 20th minute mark with 1.1 million viewers. The game also received 162,000 streams on RTÉ Player.

Also proving a strong draw for weekend audiences was drama, with Sunday night's Fair City Sunday's episode, in which Zak's pride threw the kidnapping plans into disarray, had an average audience of 305,000 viewers and a further 61,000 streams.
Later that evening, the third episode of Hidden Assets had an average audience of 218,000.
Rugby World Cup coverage continues on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player this weekend with Argentina v Samoa on Friday from 4.15pm.
On Saturday, Ireland move to the Stade de France to take on South Africa, and RTÉ’s coverage begins on RTÉ2 at 7pm, where Jacqui Hurley will be joined by Jamie Heaslip, Jerry Flannery, Simon Zebo and Stephen Ferris.
