Fair City actor Aaron Harris dies suddenly in Spain

Actor Aaron Harris, who plays Detective Sergeant Myles Byrne in Fair City, has died.

The actor, whose real name is David, passed away suddenly in Spain on 4 September, according to his death notice published on RIP.ie on Saturday 9 September.

The notice said that the actor will be "sadly missed by his loving partner Louise, brothers Hayman & Ken, sister Alison, brother-in-law Gerry, sisters-in-law Ann-Marie, Siobhan & Pauline, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends".

Fair City's Executive Producer Brigie de Courcy commented: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Aaron Harris.

"He was a great talent who was so loved by fellow cast members, crew and writers. Aaron created a much-loved character in Detective Garda Myles Byrne, and it was an absolute privilege to work with him over the years.

"On behalf of the cast and crew of Fair City, we send our love and deepest condolences to Aaron's family. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam uasal."

Harris, who called London, Lahinch and Limerick home, first appeared in Fair City in the late 1990s.

Between 1994 and 1996, he played DS Andy Dixon on British police drama Wycliffe.

He has also appeared in Call The Midwife, The Bill, Holby City and Ballykissangel.

Tommy O'Neill, who played Harris' Garda partner Detective John Deegan in Fair City, led the tributes for the actor online.

Writing on Facebook, he said, "It's with a very sad heart I write this. My friend and partner on Fair City, Aaron Harris AKA Myles has passed away in Spain."

He continued, "My thoughts are with his family. We had fun working together even though I sometimes drove him crazy.

"I was very very fond of Aaron and wish him a happy journey to the great show in the sky. R.I.P. Brother."
