Blandad: lovely boys
Blandad: lovely boys

Kildare-based hardcore/grunge band Blandad have released their new single, Hospital Roof. We asked their guitarist Dean Lane the BIG questions . . .

Formed in 2022 by members of previous bands In The Space Between, She Speaks, Drink Puke Dead, and Club War, Blandad are currently writing and recording their debut EP.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

We are all from Kildare and have played in various bands over the years but came together as we found a common love for heavy music. We are currently writing and recording our debut EP. All band members are teachers in the arts.

How would you describe your music?

A mix of energetic hard-hitting hardcore punk and heavy grunge with shoegaze aesthetics.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Deftones, My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Lankum, Pixies, Dilly Dally, Slowdive.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Radiohead at Malahide Castle is one of the earliest ones that really stands out. I was already a huge fan, and it was just an unforgettable experience.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Cliche answer but I bought Surfer Rosa by The Pixies in my early teens and played it on repeat for months!

What's your favourite song right now?

Arcanum by Show Me The Body. Slow build up to a huge energetic, chaotic ending by a very underrated band.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"I'm not the kind of sick that you can fix" Sick - Chelsea Wolfe.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Idioteque by Radiohead. A standout moment on an album of so many great songs. Will never get bored listening to it.

Where can people find your music/more information?

Our website. We are on Spotify as Blandad and you can find us on Instagram at blandad_band.
