Ahead of their appearance as the "surprise" act at Electric Picnic this weekend, The Script will play a warm-up show at Dublin venue The Academy this Friday.

It will be the band's first Irish gig since the death of founding member Mark Sheehan last April.
They tweeted: "This is going to be BIG! We're coming home! We are performing in Dublin Friday September 1st at @academydublin! Tickets go on sale Wednesday Aug 30th at 10am. #TheScriptFamily can’t wait to see you there."

Tickets are on sale from usual outlets on Wednesday 30 August at 10am. Doors open at 7pm with The Script on stage at 8.30pm.

Front man Danny O'Donoghue and drummer Glen Power have continued to perform since Sheehan's passing, saying on social media that Sheehan would have wanted them to keep going. In recent weeks, they have supported Pink on the UK leg of her world tour.
The Script was formed in Dublin in 2001 and they've sold over 20 million albums, scoring huge hits with the likes of The Man Who Can't Be Moved, For The First Time, We Cry and Hall of Fame.
