Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves

Chris Pine heads the cast of Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, FBI: Most Wanted returns for a fourth season, Harlan Coben's teen drama Shelter arrives and Millionaire Hoarders departs . . .

Pick of the Day

Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, Paramount+/Sky Cinema Premiere

Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Jesse Smith, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman and Hugh Grant star in this fantasy adventure.

It’s the tale of a charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers who undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.

This isn’t the first film to be based on the popular fantasy role-playing game – but by most accounts it’s the best.

Don’t Miss

The Big Country, 8.30pm, TG4

Classic William Wyler Western, starring Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston (in a rare supporting role), Jean Simmons, Burl Ives and Carroll Baker.

Peck plays a naive sea captain who learns a harsh lesson in cowboy lore when he becomes embroiled in a family feud. And we all know how much cowboys love their guns.

Tensions are running high between his future father-in-law and a hillbilly clan over the thorny issue of water rights - and neither party is impressed by the newcomer when he refuses to take sides.

Burl Ives won an Oscar, but the greatest thing about this film is its unforgettable theme tune. Arguably the finest in cinema’s history.

La La Land, 9.40pm, RTÉ2

Damien Chazelle's Bafta-winning musical, starring Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling and John Legend, is good fun and quite iconic - but it's no match for The Greatest Showman, for example.

Jobbing actress Mia and struggling jazz pianist Sebastian fall in love and attempt to realise their respective dreams in Los Angeles - a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts.

But keeping the wolf from the door without compromising their beliefs proves harder than expected.

8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, 9.00pm, Channel 4

There must be a new run of the series on the way as this is a compilation show.

Amongst the panelists are Sean Lock (above, who passed away in 2021), Jon Richardson, Harry Hill, Bob Mortimer and Katherine Ryan.

It's followed by a repeat of Jimmy Carr’s Big Fat Quiz of Everything.

Rig 45: Murder at Sea, 9.00pm, More4

The Swedish drama returns for a second run.

After the shocking events in the North Sea, the police learn that Petra's story doesn't stack up, and she faces a prison sentence.

A body wearing a Benthos Oil jacket is washed ashore and Inspector Emma Marshall and her colleague Trevor Webb find a diary in the jacket that seems to belong to Petra's brother and identify the body as his.

The diary mentions a hard drive, which must still be on the rig and could contain evidence of murder. Later, a worker is found unconscious and close to death, and it seems possible that events are set to be repeated.

New to Stream

Harlan Coben’s Shelter, Prime Video

This is an adaptation of Harlan Coben’s YA series about a traumatised teen.

It’s the story of Mickey Bolitar and his new life with a mom in rehab, a dead father, an annoying aunt, and a new school in New Jersey.

As well as being a high school drama there’s a supernatural element to the show as Mickey starts to believe that an old house may hold secrets.

Episodes 1-3 are out today, with the remainder following on a weekly basis.

Guns & Gulaabs, Netflix

Here’s what’s basically an Indian take on Tarantino.

In the cartel-run town of Gulaabgunj, an unprecedented opium deal pulls a big-city cop and a lovesick mechanic into its chaotic clutches.

Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie, Apple TV+

Charles Schulz created the Peanuts gang over 70 years ago - but the cartoon strip and its crew of characters remain hugely popular.

And it's always been about more than Charlie Brown and Peanuts, and this special looks at one of the more minor players: Peppermint Patty's perma-pal Marcie.

"We’ve always known her as Peppermint Patty’s sidekick," says director Raymond S. Persi. "Someone who’s always there to help Peppermint Patty in whatever she’s doing.

"So in this special we get a chance to focus on Marcie and see her mindset. We dive a little deeper into that aspect of Marcie, the person who really, really wants to help out and do good things in the world.

"But who isn’t looking for the spotlight."
