London-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Otto Aday has released his new single, Star-Crossed Lovers, with her debut album, Persona, due to follow on 6 October. We asked he the BIG questions . . .

Star Crossed Lovers was co-written with Dave Stewart and speaking about his inspiration for the song, Otto says, "On Halloween, I went to York dressed as Charlie Chaplin. I was in a hostel, and this young American lady came down the staircase and said, 'Oh my God, I love Charlie Chaplin!'

"It turned out she had travelled to England for a screenwriting internship. We hit it off from the word go and went on an adventure across the UK, we stumbled across an old cathedral, and I whisked her away to a fantasy-like village where every house is a bookstore.

"The moments we spent felt timeless and suspended in mid-air, maybe that’s why I liken her to the stars. It blossomed into a beautiful friendship; I definitely love her in some sense. I’m immortalizing the relationship in the song."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I grew up in the middle of nowhere. I make a smooth vodka martini and I once ran through the woods in six-inch heels.

How would you describe your music?

Flamboyantly poetic, guitar driven, folk songs with a punchy twist.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Currently the moments I spend with people in my life inspire my music more than anything else.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

One that I can remember, must've been years and years ago, was Cassia in a small venue in Cardiff called The Moon.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Bon Iver by Bon Iver was the first vinyl I bought.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Lately I've had I've Got a Girl by Flyte on repeat.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Ooo, that's a hard one, at the moment I love this lyric "It's not your hands searching slow in the dark, or your nails leaving loves watermark" - If We Were Vampires.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is a song I don't think I could live without, Heavenly Father by Bon Iver - the live version.

Where can people find your music/more information?
