"I've been singing for way longer than I've been playing guitar. I used to sing in bands before I fully succumbed to good old melancholic folk," he says.

"I try to be as honest as hell because I think that's cool in song writing. I play a mix of contemporary and classic folk and blues songs, as well as my own. Fingerpicking, sing-alongs and honest and earnest songs are all featured in my sets. Best described as fresh, fun and emotional."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

In music terms, I’m self-taught (though I’m not one of those musicians that can play everything). I have vitiligo (If you don’t know, it’s a skin condition which means that I have patches of skin that are completely white. Michael Jackson famously had it, and so does the model Winnie Harlow). I can do at least two consecutive cartwheels.

How would you describe your music?

Indie folk, fast guitar fingerpicking, the occasional pop song, personal lyrics.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Laura Marling, Phoebe Bridgers, John Martyn, Johnny Flynn, to name some famous names. But also, lots of the singer-songwriters I meet out and about when I’m gigging. Also just want to say that I’m a massive Lankum fan though I sound nothing like them. I’m also a huge Ye Vagabonds fan.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Green day at Milton Keynes bowl on their American Idiot tour.

What was the first record you ever bought?

I genuinely don’t know. I never know how people remember the answer to this question. Being the youngest of three brothers, I usually just listened to the albums they bought. Lots of American music from the 90s and 00s usually, like Blink-182 and Paramore. I was not raised on folk, but I love it now.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Probably Detectorists by Johnny Flynn.

Favourite lyric of all time?

First one that springs to mind as a fav is 'I have emotional motion sickness, somebody roll the windows down!’

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Probably 4’33" by John Cage, as the sound of silence would probably be a lot more relaxing and less likely to drive me insane.

Where can people find your music/more information?

@luca_fd on instagram or Luca FD on Spotify!
