Irish indie artist Amy Ellen has released her new single, Leave Me. We asked her the BIG questions . . .

This is her first home studio recorded release since moving to France and speaking about the new track, she says, "I didn't overthink this process and for the first time I was able to let go of my perfectionism."

Amy is back on home turf later this year for her headline show in Whelan's (Upstairs) on the 7 October. She also joins Someone for three Irish dates of their tour.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I hate flying. I'm really good at doing winged eyeliner. I taught myself to play guitar when I was 12.

How would you describe your music?

My sound is evolving, right now I would say 90s feel good alternative rock. Soft vocals and loud guitars.

Who are your musical inspirations?

I discovered Green Day and Nirvana at the age of 13 and their song writing still shapes the music I write today. I connected with music on a deeper level coming into my teens and that's when I started to realised that I wanted music to be more than just a hobby.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Busted, 2003 at The Point in Dublin.. I’m actually going to their reunion tour later this year.

What was the first record you ever bought?

I honestly think it was The Backstreet Boys..

What’s your favourite song right now?

Just to Keep you Satisfied by Inhaler. Banger.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"I tried hard to have a Father but instead I had a Dad" - Serve the Servants by Nirvana. Cobain's lyricism is so raw and straight to the point.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I’ve streamed I Don’t recognise You by NewDad at least once a day since its release date. I don’t think I could ever get sick of that song.

Where can people find your music/more information?
