TV personality, actor and entertainer Les Dennis is the fifteenth and final celebrity contestant confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One, due to air this autumn.

Dennis has been in showbiz for over 50 years, including famously hosting TV gameshow Family Fortunes for 16 years.

He started his career as a comedian on the Working Men's Club circuit in and around his native Liverpool before getting his big break on TV talent show New Faces.

He went on to star in sketch and variety show The Laughter Show, forming a double-act with the late Dustin Gee.

His TV career has included roles in Extras, Brookside, Death in Paradise and Midsomer Murders, as well as two years in Coronation Street.

Appearing on ITV's Good Morning Britain to reveal himself as the final Strictly contestant, he said: "I had a knee replacement two years ago and I remember thinking to myself, 'It may be time to slow down’, but you get something offered like this and it puts a spring in your step.

"I’m excited and I’m terrified. People at any age can do anything," he said.

Dennis has been married three times, most famously to Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden in 1995 before splitting in 2002.

Other contestants in this year's Strictly line-up include Irish TV and radio presenter Angela Scanlon, Casualty star Nigel Harman and former Love Island contestant Zara McDermott.

The average age of contestants in this year’s series is 42 – the highest since 2017 and close to the highest in the show’s history, which was 45 in 2010.

This will be the 21st series of the popular dance show, which first hit screens in the UK in 2004.

Presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be back to host the show, alongside judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke.
