Kylie Minogue is following in the footsteps of U2, Adele and Celine Dion as she announces her first Las Vegas residency.

The Australian singer, 55, will be the first headliner for nightclub Voltaire, a new venue at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, with performances due to begin on 3 November.

Minogue's forthcoming album Tension is due for release in September and features the single Padam Padam.

She said: "The spirit of Voltaire is one of pure, authentic fun. It's one I resonate with as a pop artist. My new album Tension is all about the space where the intimate and universal come together and Voltaire represents just that."

The former Neighbours actress will perform tracks from Tension as well as songs from her vast catalogue, including hits like Can't Get You out of My Head and All the Lovers at the 1,000-seat venue.

Patrick Nichols, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, said: "Voltaire will lead a revival in high-calibre nightlife, giving guests an unexpected night out, but also the opportunity to see some of their favourite artists in an intimate way."

Speaking about performing at Voltaire, Minogue added: "The creative team has designed an environment where people can get up and dance at their tables and revel in the night.

"That's what Voltaire is and I can't wait to perform in this intimate and exciting setting."

Tickets for the residency go on sale from 9 August.
