It’s the crucial second game for the Girls in Green as Canada face Ireland (KO 1.00pm). Defeat here means that Vera Pauw’s squad will be going home after the group stage.

Canada are the reigning Olympic champions and sure to provide an extremely tough test for an Ireland side that qualified for the finals for the first time.

But after defeat in the opening game against Australia, Ireland must get at least a point from this game if they’ve to have any chance of making the knockout stages.

David Bowie: Cracked Actor, 10.00pm, BBC Four

Alan Yentob's seminal documentary following David Bowie across America on his 1974 Diamond Dogs tour, at a time when his rock star excesses were at their most extreme.

The fans weren't far behind him either!

Originally shown as part of Omnibus in 1975, the film features revealing footage of Bowie and his fans, illustrating the effects of fame on musicians and their followers.

Bowie fans should note that it’s followed at 10.55pm by Zoe Wanamaker Remembers - Bowie and Baal.

The actress looks back at the 1982 TV adaptation of Bertolt Brecht's play, in which she appeared alongside David Bowie in the title role.

Then at 11.05pm there’s Baal with David Bowie.

Set in pre-First World War Germany, it depicts scenes from the life of an amoral poet and singer ruthlessly devoted to his own talent.

Dial M for Middlesbrough, 9.00pm, BBC Two

Johnny Vegas and Sian Gibson return once more as Terry and Gemma from Draper's Tours.

This time they find themselves forced to take refuge at a sinister and dilapidated caravan park after their coach breaks down.

During the unplanned stay, visitors and residents begin to be bumped off one by one under grizzly circumstances.

The black comedy co-stars Sally Lindsay, Phil Davis, Joanna Page, Jason Donovan and Annette Crosbie.

Bohemian Rhapsody, 9.35pm, RTÉ One

Oscar-winning biopic, starring Rami Malek (below), Lucy Boynton and Gwilym Lee.

Freddie Mercury and Queen go from playing small venues to becoming one of the biggest rock bands in the world.

But while Freddie comes to terms with his sexuality, outside forces threaten to tear the group apart, until their defining moment at Live Aid in July 1985.

New or Returning Shows

The Girl from Plainville, 10.00pm, Channel 4

This eight-part Starz drama was inspired by Michelle Carter's 'texting-suicide' case and stars an impressive Elle Fanning.

It explores Carter's relationship with Conrad Roy III and the events that led to his death and her conviction for involuntary manslaughter.

Chloë Sevigny also features, which is a good sign for any series.

Blue Bloods, 9.00pm, RTÉ2

It’s the 13th season of the drama focusing on New York City police commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), who ensures that he runs his force as tightly as his household.

In the season opener Eddie, Badillo, and Jamie work a domestic violence case associated with an investigation worked by Danny, Baez, and Anthony for a trial Erin is leading.

Jamie is shot during the case, putting his life in danger as the rest of the Reagans gather at the hospital.

New to Stream

How I Met Your Father, Disney+

The so-so How I Met Your Mother spin-off returns for the second part of season 2.

Original series star Cobie Smulders appeared in season one, while the current has continued this trend, with Neil Patrick Harris appearing in both the premiere and mid-season finale as Barney Stinson.

The Great British Sewing Bee, 9.00pm, BBC One

Sara Pascoe (below) presents the grand final of this year's contest, with judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young kicking things off by challenging the sewers to make a Victoriana-style evening dress.

These dresses require delicate fabrics to create the glamorous effect, but they are tricky to handle.

Next, it's the sewers' last chance to show off their instinct for design in the transformation challenge, as they attempt to turn female party wear into a glamorous men's red-carpet outfit.

Finally, they fit a Met Gala-worthy 'two-in-one' dress for their models, who this week are a friend or family member.

Joanna Lumley’s Great Spice Trail, 9.00pm, UTV/ITV

The last leg of Joanna Lumley's journey takes her by dhow to Zanzibar, the spice island of Africa where merchants from around the world have left their mark on architecture, religion and music.

Finally, she travels to Jordan where the spice trail continued on land.

She explores the vast plains of Wadi Rum from the back of a camel, meets one of the last nomadic Bedouin families and visits Za'atari refugee camp, home to Jordan's newest arrivals.

Joanna's journey ends at one of the great wonders of the world, the ancient city of Petra.
