Don’t Miss

The Who at the Electric Proms, 10.00pm, BBC Two

A night of Who-related programming begins with a 2006 performance by the veteran rock group at the Roundhouse in the London borough of Camden.

It features songs including My Generation, Baba O'Riley and Pinball Wizard as well as material from the band's mini-opera Wire and Glass.

That’s followed at 10.50pm by a screening of Quadrophenia, a 1979 drama based on the Who album of the same name, starring Phil Daniels, Leslie Ash, Sting and Ray Winstone.

It’s about a teenager in 1960s’ London who is unhappy with his lot in life but believes he has found a place to belong in the mod subculture and their feud with the rival rockers.

But bit by bit, his vision of the world is cruelly shattered.

Finally, at 12.45am there’s The Who at Glastonbury. Mark Radcliffe looks back at the rock band's headline set on the Pyramid Stage in 2007, when they closed that year's festival.

Some nostalgic laughs are guaranteed here.

In a programme originally broadcast in 1995, chat show host Michael Parkinson revisits memorable encounters with actor and comedian Frankie Howerd and a Christmas interview with slapstick magician Tommy Cooper (above).

Saturday Cinema

Crazy Rich Asians, 10.25pm, BBC One

Brighten up your Saturday night with this blockbusting comedy based on Kevin Kwan's novel, starring Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan and Michelle Yeoh.

The problem is they aren't so approving of her, so she attempts to win them over.

Mulholland Falls, 11.45pm, RTÉ2

Not to be confused with the vastly superior Mulholland Drive, this patchy Noirish drama stars Nick Nolte, Melanie Griffith, Chazz Palminteri, Jennifer Connelly and John Malkovich.

The story follows four elite detectives who are charged with cracking down on organised crime in 1950s Los Angeles.

Their latest case involves the murder of a woman who had several powerful lovers, any one of whom may have killed her to conceal his dark secret - but one of the cops is connected to the victim.

By no means a classic, it's worth a look if you fancy a late one.

Miller's Crossing, 9.30pm, TG4

This is the Coen brothers' Prohibition-era gangster thriller, starring Gabriel Byrne, Albert Finney, Marcia Gay Harden and John Turturro.

A Mob boss watches as his empire crumbles around him after he refuses to have his girlfriend's brother killed.

A disgruntled henchman responds by heading up a breakaway criminal faction, while the boss's right-hand man tries to decide where his loyalties lie.
