The Girls in Green begin their World Cup odyssey against co-hosts Australia (KO 11am).
Evanne Ní Chuilinn presents all the action from the opening match in Group B, held at Stadium Australia in Sydney.
This is the first time Ireland has qualified for the World Cup finals, and Vera Pauw's (above) side face a tough opener against the Matildas, who have progressed beyond the group phase in the last four stagings of the competition.
Later at 8pm there’s FIFA Women's World Cup Highlights, where Marie Crowe presents action from the opening day and reaction to Ireland's debut.

I’ve found this second season of this Sex and the City reboot pretty tedious and unwatchable but might be tempted to tune in again to see the return of Aidan, played once more by John Corbett.

This show is such a joy.
This week a new student enrols in the imposing form of a four-year-old newfador called Ruby.
Eight stone of solid dog, Ruby refuses to budge when owners Nichola and Zeal take her for a walk, but trainers Sean and Kamal soon realise there's more to Ruby's stubbornness than meets the eye.
Also: six-year-old Maltese Bichon cross Marco arrives with fed up owner Beth in tow. Beth inherited Marco from her late father - and Marco's repaying the favour by ignoring every word Beth says.
Gravity, 10.40pm, BBC One
Saw this space thriller in an Imax when it came out and it blew me away – not sure how it could look even nearly as good on the telly.
Sandra Bullock and George Clooney play two astronauts who are stranded in orbit above the Earth when the debris from an exploding satellite destroys their shuttle.
Left drifting in space with no way to contact mission control, they begin a perilous journey to reach the safety of a space station before their oxygen supply runs out.
Sweet Charity, 9.00pm, BBC Four
Bob Fosse-directed Neil Simon Broadway hit, with Shirley MacLaine, John McMartin, Ricardo Montalban and Sammy Davis Jr, and featuring songs including The Rhythm of Life and Big Spender.
A lonely but optimistic dancer in a seedy nightclub goes in search of true love, but finds instead a succession of deceitful men who only let her down.
When she meets a shy, claustrophobic man in a lift, she thinks he might be the one - but tries to keep her past a secret.
Followed at 11.25pm by Shirley MacLaine: Talking Pictures, offering a selection of TV clips featuring the Sweet Charity and The Apartment star.
If you’ve got the pace, that’s then followed at 12.10am by An Evening With Sammy Davis Jr.

Another chance to see this superb series, recently shown on the BBC.
Stories of the Troubles from people on all sides of the conflict, beginning by looking at how the situation in Northern Ireland in the late-1960s deteriorated from a time of relative peace.
As the civil rights movement gained pace, demanding equal rights for Catholics, the Provisional IRA came to the fore, causing the British Army to be deployed.
With the situation compounded by tactical mistakes, soldiers quickly found themselves caught up in violent clashes - leading to 13 unarmed Catholics being shot dead by British paratroopers in Derry on what becomes known as Bloody Sunday.
The Supervet: Puppy Special, 9.00pm, Channel 4
Noel Fitzpatrick (below) and a team of more than 100 surgeons, nurses, ward attendants and physiotherapists return to help some of the hardest-to-cure pets through cutting-edge treatment and operations.
This new run opens with a special episode featuring the amazing stories - old and new - of some of the youngest and cutest puppies Noel has provided life-saving treatment since The Supervet began in 2014.
It’ll also look at the families at the centre of their inspiring stories.
Rosie Jones: Am I a R*tard, 10.00pm, Channel 4
The comedian takes the opportunity to explore and educate viewers on the online abuse faced by those with disabilities, including herself as a person with cerebral palsy.
She sets herself the challenge of confronting a troll directly and explores the role that social media plays in the rise of this abuse.
Rosie wants everyone in the UK to be made aware of ableism and to stand up to it when they see it and for everyone to play their part in ending the suffering of people who are abused simply because of their disability.

Highlights of the opening day of tournament, which takes place this year at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, Wirral.

This is the 13th time overall that the prestigious competition has been held on this course, and the first time since 2014, when Rory McIlroy (above) claimed the third of his four Major titles.

Adapted from the 11-book series written by Sherryl Wood, Sweet Magnolias follows the stories of three moms living in the charming little of Serenity, South Carolina.
They are Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana (Brooke Elliott) and Helen (Heather Headley).
As for this third season, Maddie tries to figure out the best way to help out Cal following the fight at Sullivan’s.
Helen continues to have men troubles, and Dana Sue wants to use a surprise check to help the community - without disrupting her own family in the process.
