Fair City has welcomed a new family, the Mullens, to Carrigstown, with matriarch Babs (Ali Fox) and her daughters Jess (Ciana Howlin) and Ruby (Rachel Wren) caught up in drama from the get-go.
The RTÉ soap says: "Although Babs loves the bones of Jess (21) and Ruby (17), the trio fight like cats and dogs.
"It doesn't take much to kick off a row, and quick-witted Babs is not one to back away from an argument. She speaks her mind and expects her daughters to do the same.
"Jess has always been thought of as the 'easy' child in the family, but things are set to change dramatically, as Jess has some explosive news brewing.
"Ruby, on the other hand, is a restless soul who is always on the lookout for trouble.
"We first caught a glimpse of the feisty Babs, Carrigstown's new traffic warden, locking horns with Dean after she clamped his illegally parked van. Dean tried to appeal his fine to no avail, and things nearly came to blows with the sharp-tongued, no-nonsense Babs when he refused to serve her at Hot Pots.
"Meanwhile, Paul has hired Babs' daughter Ruby as Ruth's new babysitter. Things are set to get complicated this week, however, when wild child Ruby arranges a house party as soon as Paul leaves.
"Ruth is shocked by Ruby and her friends' reckless behaviour, especially when Ruby's friend Dawn helps herself to Paul's whiskey.
"Will Paul succeed in catching her out when he discovers that he's being deceived? He's in for a treat when he meets the rest of Ruby's colourful family! Paul is especially thrown when Babs gives short shrift to his accusations.
"Later this week, we'll meet Jess, the eldest daughter of the family.
"Much to her mother's annoyance, Jess' boyfriend Greg (Shane McCarthy) is also a near-permanent fixture on their sofa.
"When Jess feels faint and takes a turn in the Community Centre, she finds an unlikely helper in Paul, despite his run-in with Babs. Will Jess' dizzy spells hint at a cause of concern for her family?
"The Mullen family are making themselves at home in Carrigstown, and things are most certainly about to get interesting!"
